Best neighbourhoods in Białystok: with kids, without a car, for less
The best neighbourhoods in Białystok by lifestyle: with kids, without a car, working in the centre and for less. osiedlo.app data, method and limits.
12 min read
The best neighbourhoods in Białystok are different addresses for a family and for someone without a car. With kids, Leśna Dolina, Mickiewicza and Kawaleryjskie come out on top; without a car, Centrum; and for a job in the centre, Bojary, Piaski and Sienkiewicza too.
This article sorts Białystok’s 29 neighbourhoods (osiedla) and 4 suburbs for 4 ways of living: with kids, without a car, working in the centre and on a tight budget. osiedlo.app does not sell flats and takes no commission, so no neighbourhood sits higher here because someone paid for it. Every rating and travel time is an osiedlo.app estimate; where they come from and what they leave out is in the method section below.
The best neighbourhoods in Białystok at a glance
Pick your profile and the table keeps only the neighbourhoods that fit it. Ratings run from 0 to 5, and the time is the public transport trip to Rynek Kościuszki, the main square.
| Neighbourhood | To the centre | Strong point | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Centrum | about 5 min | public transport 5/5, cafes 5/5 | quiet 1/5, the highest prices in the city |
| Bojary | about 8 min | wooden houses and gardens close to the square | few listings (listing availability 2/5), some old houses heat with stoves |
| Piaski | about 8 min | public transport 4/5, daily shopping 4/5 | green space 2/5, busy streets |
| Przydworcowe | about 8 min | about 8 min to Białystok Główny station | quiet 2/5, you can hear the trains on the track side |
| Sienkiewicza | about 8 min | new housing 4/5, daily shopping 4/5 | quiet 2/5, traffic until late on Sienkiewicza and Jurowiecka |
| Piasta II | about 8 min | public transport 4/5, about 6 min to the Medical University | green space 2/5, few listings (listing availability 2/5) |
| Nowe Miasto | about 12 min | public transport 4/5, daily shopping 4/5 | in September students rent rooms fast |
| Białostoczek | about 15 min | public transport 4/5, daily shopping 4/5 | new housing 1/5, prefab blocks |
| Mickiewicza | about 10 min | green space 5/5, quiet 4/5 | daily shopping 2/5, few listings and high prices |
| Leśna Dolina | about 22 min | green space 5/5, quiet 4/5 | over half an hour to the east of the city |
| Kawaleryjskie | about 15 min | green space 4/5, quiet 4/5 | crowds and no parking on match days |
| Wygoda | about 15 min | quiet 4/5, Las Pietrasze forest next door | buses run less often in the evening |
| Zielone Wzgórza | about 22 min | quiet 4/5, green space 4/5 | fewer buses in the evening and on Sundays |
| Dziesięciny I | about 18 min | daily shopping 4/5, listing availability 4/5 | new housing 1/5, blocks in very mixed condition |
| Dziesięciny II | about 21 min | quiet 4/5, listing availability 4/5 | further from the centre than Dziesięciny I |
| Słoneczny Stok | about 20 min | daily shopping 4/5, listing availability 4/5 | new housing 1/5, few places to go out in the evening |
| Wasilków (suburb) | about 30 min | new housing 4/5, green space 4/5 | the road into Białystok jams at rush hour |
Neighbourhoods in one group have very similar results, so we do not number them. A gap of under 2 points between Leśna Dolina and Kawaleryjskie says less than how far a given block stands from the bus stop.
With kids: Leśna Dolina, Mickiewicza and Kawaleryjskie
For a family we counted green space, quiet, daily shopping, new housing and public transport. Within the city, Leśna Dolina, Mickiewicza and Kawaleryjskie come out on top, less than 2 points apart.
- Leśna Dolina: green space 5/5 and quiet 4/5, because the blocks stand right by the forest. About 22 min to the centre, and over half an hour to the east side of the city.
- Mickiewicza: green space 5/5 and quiet 4/5, with the Zwierzyniec park and forest inside the neighbourhood. About 10 min to the centre. Daily shopping rates only 2/5, listings are few (listing availability 2/5), and its price ranges are among the highest in the city.
- Kawaleryjskie: green space 4/5 and quiet 4/5, with blocks in the north of the neighbourhood and houses in the south. About 15 min to the centre. On match days, parking by the stadium disappears.
Right behind them, in one group, are Wygoda and Zielone Wzgórza (quiet 4/5, green space 4/5), Dojlidy with its ponds and green space 5/5, and Nowe Miasto. The same group holds Jaroszówka, Bagnówka and Dojlidy Górne, mostly houses, but public transport there rates only 2/5, so plan on a car.
Outside the city, the suburbs Wasilków and Supraśl come out highest of all areas. Wasilków has new housing 4/5, and Supraśl rates 5/5 for green space and quiet, but both are about 30-40 min from the main square.
If you have kids but no car, look at Nowe Miasto: public transport and daily shopping both rate 4/5 there, with quiet and green space at 3/5.
osiedlo.app does not rate nurseries, preschools or schools. If that matters to you, check the ones near the specific address yourself before you go to a viewing.
No car: Centrum, then Bojary, Piaski, Przydworcowe and Sienkiewicza
Here we counted public transport, the trip to the centre, daily shopping and cafes within walking distance. Białystok has no trams or trolleybuses, so it is all about buses.
Centrum comes out clearly on top (public transport 5/5, daily shopping 4/5, cafes 5/5). Behind it, in one group, are Bojary, Piaski, Przydworcowe and Sienkiewicza, each about 8 min from the main square. From Przydworcowe it is about 8 min to Białystok Główny station, and Sienkiewicza has the highest new-housing rating in this group (4/5).
The second group is Piasta II, Białostoczek and Nowe Miasto (public transport 4/5). Distances in Białystok are short: as osiedlo.app rates it, most neighbourhoods lie within about 5 km of the main square, so from April to October a bike is a real alternative to the bus.
Job in the centre: the shortest trip to Rynek Kościuszki
Here we counted a daily trip to Rynek Kościuszki 5 days a week, where up to about 10 min earns the full score, and public transport. Centrum comes out on top (about 5 min), followed by Bojary, Piaski, Piasta II, Przydworcowe and Sienkiewicza, each about 8 min. Next come Młodych and Nowe Miasto (about 12 min, public transport 4/5) and Bema, Mickiewicza and Piasta I (about 10 min, public transport 3/5).
Working in the centre but want quiet after work? Mickiewicza rates 4/5 for quiet and is about 10 min from the main square, while Kawaleryjskie and Wygoda rate 4/5 for quiet and are about 15 min away.
Where to look for lower prices: the edges and the prefab blocks
We give no amounts here, because osiedlo.app prices are estimated ranges, not a current price list. We only compare the order: within the city, osiedlo.app has the lowest rent ranges for Bagnówka, Zawady and Dojlidy Górne, followed closely by Jaroszówka, Dziesięciny I and II, Skorupy and Starosielce.
Bagnówka, Zawady and Dojlidy Górne are houses on the edge of the city, though, with public transport at 2/5 and very few rentals (listing availability 1/5). If you want lower prices and a choice of flats, look at Dziesięciny I, Dziesięciny II and Słoneczny Stok: listing availability 4/5, public transport 3/5 and about 18-21 min to the centre. The trade-off is prefab blocks (new housing 1/5) in very mixed condition, so compare renovated blocks with untouched ones.
Closer to the centre, in the middle of the price range, are Białostoczek (about 15 min) and Piasta I (about 10 min), both with listing availability 4/5.
Outside the city, Łapy has the lowest ranges of all areas, but the trip to the main square takes about 45 min. Wasilków has lower ranges than most Białystok neighbourhoods and is about 30 min from the centre.
As osiedlo.app rates them, the most expensive are Centrum, then Mickiewicza, Bojary and Piaski.
Where Białystok is a poor fit for your profile
There are no bad neighbourhoods, only neighbourhoods that are a poor match for someone’s day. These are the weakest matches within the city as osiedlo.app rates them, profile by profile:
- With kids: Bema (green space 2/5, new housing 2/5), Skorupy (daily shopping 2/5) and Młodych (quiet 2/5, green space 2/5) come out lowest. Just above them is Piasta II.
- No car: Bagnówka, Dojlidy Górne and Zawady, where public transport and daily shopping both rate 2/5, with Jaroszówka just above them.
- Job in the centre: Dojlidy Górne (about 30 min to the main square), then Bagnówka and Zawady (about 25 min each). Outside the city, Supraśl, Łapy and Choroszcz are further still.
- Lower prices: Centrum, Mickiewicza, Bojary and Piaski, where rent ranges are the highest in the city.
Młodych and Piasta II sit low for a family, yet they are about 8-12 min from the main square. Bagnówka and Dojlidy Górne are hard without a car, yet they rate 5/5 for quiet: for someone who works from home and drives, they are very good addresses.
How this ranking was made
osiedlo.app covers 33 areas in Białystok: 29 neighbourhoods and 4 suburbs (Wasilków, Supraśl, Choroszcz and Łapy). We count Dziesięciny as two neighbourhoods, Dziesięciny I and Dziesięciny II, and not a third time as a whole. Each area gets a rating from 0 to 5 on 12 criteria, among them the trip to the centre, public transport, quiet, green space, daily shopping, cafes, new housing and listing availability. Travel time is an estimate by public transport to 5 places: Rynek Kościuszki, the University of Białystok campus, the Białystok University of Technology, the Medical University and Białystok Główny station.
Each profile in this article is a set of weights in the same engine that ranks areas in the paid report. The Białystok data was last reviewed in July 2026; data confidence is medium for only 4 neighbourhoods (Dojlidy, Dojlidy Górne, Dziesięciny I and Przydworcowe) and low for the other 25 neighbourhoods and all 4 suburbs. With confidence this low, check every address in person.
What this data does not tell you:
- Nurseries, preschools and schools: osiedlo.app has no such criterion.
- Safety: we have no crime data from the police or any other named source, so this ranking does not use it.
- Air quality: 28 of the 33 areas have a rating from GIOŚ station measurements, the rest are estimates, so we do not compare it here.
- A specific flat: the rating describes the neighbourhood, not a building, a street or a landlord.
You can read more about how osiedlo.app describes the city on the Białystok page.
What to check before you decide
The ranking narrows down where to look. No table replaces what settles a specific address, so take this list to your viewings.

Common questions
What is the worst neighbourhood in Białystok?
There is no single one. Bagnówka and Dojlidy Górne come out weakest if you have no car, because public transport there rates 2/5, yet they rate 5/5 for quiet. Młodych is one of the weaker choices for a family (quiet 2/5), yet it is about 12 min from the main square. We describe the weakest matches for each profile above.
Are there dangerous neighbourhoods in Białystok? Which one is the safest?
osiedlo.app does not settle that. We have no crime data from the police or any other source we can name, so we do not rank neighbourhoods by safety or point to dangerous ones. Walk around the area of the flat in the evening and look at the lighting and the way from the stop.
Where in Białystok is it cheapest?
As osiedlo.app rates them, the lowest rent ranges within the city are in Bagnówka, Zawady and Dojlidy Górne, but those are houses with few listings. Dziesięciny I, Dziesięciny II and Słoneczny Stok are cheaper with a choice of flats. Check current prices in the listings, because our ranges are estimates.
When is the best time to look for a flat in Białystok?
The Białystok rental market follows the academic year of the University of Białystok, the University of Technology and the Medical University. Most listings appear from July to September, when prices go up, and the calmest time to look is November to May.
One sentence to remember
The best neighbourhood in Białystok is the one that fits your day: first decide whether quiet, a short trip to work or the price matters most, and only then compare neighbourhoods.
